Taking Action

The Monday after my 17 pound weight loss, I had an appointment with my counselor and she insisted I get a referral to Mayo Clinic--she’s been imploring me to do this for over a year. On this day she insisted I get a referral and instructed me to call her the next day to let her know when my appointment was. She was so insistent, I knew if I didn’t get a referral, she would get one for me, even if it meant going to a doctor’s appointment with me.

What’s out of my comfort zone... 
NO-demand a replacement for my cable TV remote control
YES-get a referral to Mayo Clinic-tears and much feet dragging ensue. I pulled my head out of the sand, got an appointment, and of course questioned my action.

Action Reaction...
My counselor said, “Praise God.”
My primary physician encouraged me.
My chiropractor commented that it’s always good to get second or ever third opinion.
The chiropractor's scheduler felt it was something I needed to do.
My friend and colleague walked in as I was talking to the scheduler and said, “You need to make an appointment at Mayo.”

A little ditty I made up years ago when there was conflict or change: 
Put your head in the sand and it'll go away, it'll go away, it'll go away. 
Put your head in the sand and it'll go away, it will go away.
Time to change my tune because sometimes you have to get your head out of the sand to see that the new road’s not as scary as you might think.  "Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
